COPENHAGEN, DENMARK - 20-24 JULY 2009 Anniversary It was during October 17-22, in the year 1959, that Baba conducted the first Prout Convention at Jamalpur and next autumn will be the 50th anniversary of the historic event. To mark this occasion, we have planned a number of Prout-related events during 2009 and 2010. The event begins on July 20, 2009 with a global Prout Planning Convention in Copenhagen, Denmark, the place Baba designated as the Global Office of Prout. The event will conclude on July 24, 2009. The focus of this convention will be to revitalise the Prout movement in all sectors and also co-ordinate all our efforts. This is especially urgent given the present global economic crisis which has affected everyone. And, Proutists have an important role to play in the transformation of global society, especially in times of crisis. The Convention The Copenhagen Convention will be for persons who are currently active in Prout, or who is the present or in the past have contributed significantly to Prout. As this convention will essentially be a planning session for future events and programmes,, participation will be only through invitation. Invitations will be extended regardless of that view one may have on the present organisational crisis. Your Invitation Based on your understanding of and contribution to Prout, we cordially invite you to be one amongst approximately 60 participants from around the world in this event that is scheduled to take place from the 20th to 24th of July, 2009, at the Denmark Master Unit. If you have not received this invitation directly from the PROUT Global Office/PROUT Convention Organising Committee, and you wish to participate in this planning convention, please don't hesitate to contact us and we can arrange your invitation. The Venue The Master Unit, 'Ananda Gaori', is situated in a beautiful, rolling countryside 50 minutes to the northwest of Copenhagen. Additional renovations are under way to take it a perfect venue for this convention. For those who like camping, there is ample space for tents and more than 10 hectares for children to run. There is also a camp ground five minutes drive from the MU. It is on a beach and sanddune area stretching for 20 kilometres. Programme The programme will consist of one day of presentations from invited speakers. The presentations will expose participants to the ongoing Prout activities in various parts of the world, such as Prout College, the Prout Research Institute of Venezuela, Presentation of samaj movements and Prout activities in India, Ang Kasama in Maharlika, the Haiti cooperatives, Burkina Faso Cooperatives, etc. We will also have thought-provoking discussions on Prout in today's society. Some of the issues, which the convention aims to discuss are: With regard to present economic crisis, how we as Proutists, can provide solutions to the affected people. Besides, we also ned to bring the ideas of Prout to the forefront of people's consciousness as a viable alternative? Also, to what extent should be be involved in political activism, joining other progressive groups in fighting for specific demands? Is there a danger of weakening or modifying our Prout platform in order to get a more ready acceptance for our idea? After the presentations, in the next two days we will use the "open space technology" model to develop action plans that participants are passionate about. This model results in plans that can actually be realised by involving those who are capable and committed to make them happen. Immediately following this Prout Planning Convention there will be three day open Prout retreat to enhance the knowledge of Prout for anyone interested. This will include opportunity for classes as well as maximum sadhana and kirtan. Costs The cost of participation will be kept to a minimum as we will be only charging for food and consumables. We will charge Danish Kroner 550 (Euros 75. US$100). In order to ensure the largest possible participation, a limited fund will be available to help defray participation and transportation costs for people from countries having a disadvantage in exchange rates. Please apply to the organising committee well in advance for any financial assistance. (The total cost for both programmes will be Danish kronor 1100, US$ 200, Euros 150.) Arrival/Departure Plan to arrive before 4:00 P.M. (kl.16:00) on the 20th. Departure from the convention will be after the closing session ends at noon the 24th. Transportation arrangements will be made after you register. The open retreat begins on the evening of the 24th and ends on 27'th afternoon.
